December Update

Hello, just like that, Christmas 2024 is around the corner!

It's been a whirlwind few months, and I'm excited to share some updates and news with you.

Before diving in, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support. Without your purchases and feedback, Peace Lily wouldn’t be what it is today—a small business with ambition and purpose to enhance how we show appreciation, making progress even in choppy waters. Now, onto the news!

PSYCHOLOGIES MAGAZINE

I was absolutely delighted to be featured in this month's Psychologies magazine, contributing my gifting expertise to the festive article, "What Kind of Gift Giver Are You?"

NEW ARTISANS AND WINTER COLLECTION

It has been a pleasure to collaborate with artisans and welcome new ones into Peace Lily's winter collection. Some of these talented makers I met at my very first trade show as an exhibitor at the Birmingham NEC last autumn. Others I encountered at local arts and craft fairs or even at the Good Housekeeping Live and Country Living show just a few weeks ago.

A MAGIC MOMENT

How has your year been? Positive, mixed, or perhaps an annus horribilis? The world feels a bit uncertain in many ways. Regardless of your experience, let me share a story from an event I attended last week.

After the withdrawal of a three-week pop-up, I found myself reaching out and searching for new outlets to get the lovely Christmas products out. Thankfully, I secured a spot on a one-day event, but then Storm Darragh struck. Instead of a total cancellation, the event was relocated indoors. Unsurprisingly, attendance was lower than hoped as many people were likely cozy at home! As I grappled with my thoughts, I noticed a head peeking above the table.

A little boy was captivated by one of the hand-crocheted toys. He decided to use his pocket money to buy 'Chicken'. He was unwavering in his choice, wanting only that toy (not the hamper or the biscuit that came with it). As he counted out the exact money with help from his father, he held Chicken close and promised to take care of it. I was overwhelmed with emotion, fighting back tears!

The experience reminded me that what we need will come to us at the right time. It was the encouragement and endorsement I needed at that moment. A touch of Christmas magic!

I'm also excited to share that the parents displayed great taste by purchasing a sweet and a savoury hamper for both sets of grandmothers.
